Prospective students applying to the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) must follow the prescribed application guidance as outlined by the school. Here’s a breakdown of the key points:

Application Process:

  • AFTRS undergraduate and postgraduate courses use merit-based selection.
  • Each AFTRS award course has its own specific entry requirements.

Citizenship or Permanent Residency Requirement:

  • To apply for an AFTRS award course, applicants must meet the following citizenship or residency criteria:
    • Be an Australian citizen, or
    • Be a New Zealand citizen, or
    • Hold an Australian permanent resident non-humanitarian visa, or
    • Hold an Australian permanent resident humanitarian visa.

Application Requirements: Once you have chosen the relevant course and clicked “apply now,” you will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Answer all mandatory questions marked with an asterisk (*).
  2. Upload supporting documentation, including certified copies of your proof of citizenship/residency and highest educational qualification.
  3. Upload specific application tasks relevant to the course you are applying for.
  4. Agree to the terms and conditions at the end of the application.

Certified Copies:

  • Certified copies are copies of original documents that have been certified as true copies by an authorized person.
  • To have a document certified, you should take the original document to an authorized person, who will verify it as a true copy. They must write on every page of the copy document: “I have sighted the original document and certify this to be a true copy of the original.” They should sign beneath each statement and provide their designation.
  • Authorized persons within Australia include Justices of the Peace, accountants, police officers with the rank of sergeant or above, barristers, solicitors, and more. The list also includes AFTRS Admissions or Student Services Officers.
