Ng Kok Song is generally, a successful businessman and someone of a great character of which most people around the world look up to especially in Asia. Kok Song has been the Founding Partner and Chairman of Avanda Investment Management since 2015. Previously he worked 30 years at GIC where his final responsibility was Group Chief Investment Officer. Before GIC, he served MAS for 15 years in reserve management and financial market operations. His other contributions to the Singapore finance industry were as Founder and Chairman of the derivatives exchange SIMEX during 1983-87. This was the first financial futures exchange in Asia, according to the Futures Industry Association which inducted Mr. Ng into its Hall of Fame in 2009. The derivatives exchange was later incorporated into the Singapore Exchange as its derivatives arm. He also served as the chairman of the Wealth Management Institute from 2003 to 2017. Kok Song is on the Global Advisory board of PIMCO. He also serves on the board of governors of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore and of the Asia School of Business in Malaysia. For his contributions to Singapore, Mr. Ng received the Meritorious Service Medal in 2012.
Now Mr. Ng has on Wednesday (Jul 19, 2023) announced his intention to run for the Singapore presidency after picking his eligibility forms from the Elections Department.
