How long can you stay in NLB?

Public Libraries & The LLiBrary

  • To ensure everyone has a chance to use the library, each booking is valid for 3 hours at regional libraries, and 2 hours at all other public libraries.
  • Your slot will be released after a grace period of 15 minutes.
  • Maximum of 2 people per booking.
  • Children under 12, if accompanied by parent/caregivers – do not require a booking. Unaccompanied children will still be required to book their visit.

1. When do you have to book your visit?

  • Bookings are only required on weekends with the exception of the Bloomberg Terminal at the National Library which requires a booking on all days. The URL to book the Bloomberg Terminal is https://go.gov.sg/nlbseatbooking
  • One booking per person per day
  • Unaccompanied children are required to book their visit.
  • Children under 12 – accompanied by parents or caregivers – do not require a booking.
  • Bookings are not required for Book Drop and Reservation Pick-Up.
  • Book in advance
    • Bookings are available for weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) only. Slots are released for booking one day in advance. Find out more.
  • To gain entry:
    • Show SMS confirmation-only valid SMS will be accepted.
    • All parties in a group booking must be present.
    • Complete Safe Entry with TraceTogether app or token.
    • Please arrive promptly. Your slot will be released after a grace period.

2. Information on booking time-slots

Former Ford Factory

  • Eight time slots will be available. 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM. 
  • Your slot will be released after a grace period of 15 minutes.
  • Maximum of 2 people per booking.

National Archives of Singapore – Archives Reading Room

  • Three time slots will be available: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM –5:00 PM, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
  • Your slot will be released after a grace period of 15 minutes.
  • Maximum of 1 person per booking.

National Library Building

Lee Kong Chian Reference Library (Levels 7-11)

  • Three time slots will be available: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM – 5:00PM, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
  • Your slot will be released after a grace period of 15 minutes.
  • Maximum of 1 person per booking.
  • Bloomberg Terminal users shall register their timeslot at https://go.gov.sg/nlbseatbooking. NLB’s myLibrary username login is required. Each time slot is for one (1) hour, with a grace period of 15 minutes before your booking will be released. Upon arrival, please register at Level 8 counter and scan the QR code to check-in. Users are to keep their usage time to a maximum of one hour per day, regardless of available slots. No separate booking is required for entry to the library.

Study Lounge Level 5

  • Three time slots will be available: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM – 4:00PM, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
  • Your slot will be released after a grace period of 15 minutes.
  • Maximum of 1 person per booking.

3. Using the booking system

What do I need to make a booking?

  • You will need Internet access on a laptop or a mobile device, a mobile phone number and a mobile device that can receive SMSes. To enter our libraries and archives, please show your booking confirmation SMS to our staff. If you would like an optional booking receipt, an email address is required.

Can I book for my family/make group bookings?

  • Yes, for public libraries, The LLiBrary and Former Ford Factory, you can book up to two (2) people at one time. Children (aged 12 years and below) accompanied by parents or caregivers do not need to make a booking. The entire group has to be present when they are let in. Latecomers to the group will have to queue to get in.
  • There is no group booking for visits to the National Library Singapore (Lee Kong Chian Reference Library) or use of the Bloomberg Terminal and the National Archives of Singapore Building (Archives Reading Room). Each reservation is limited to one patron.

Can I amend my booking?

  • Yes, you may amend your booking only if you have provided an email address, at point of booking. In your email notification, you may choose to edit or cancel your booking. When editing your booking, you may reselect library location, timeslot and/or the number of persons for the visit. For a booking that has been rescheduled or cancelled, you will receive an SMS and email notification.

4. Availability of services

Public Libraries & The LLiBrary

  • Seating and study areas are available but at limited capacity
  • eNewspaper and multimedia stations are available but at limited capacity.
  • A limited number of onsite programmes will be held. Patrons can check NLB’s GoLibrary for updates on our programmes.
  • Book drops and reservation lockers are available.
  • Physical library materials can be borrowed and returned.
  • Pick up of reserved items is available from the Reservation Lockers at public libraries, and from the “Reserved Items” shelf located inside The LLiBrary.

National Library Building

  • The Lee Kong Chian Reference Library is open with reduced capacity.
  • Full reference services such as reservations and reference enquiries are available.
  • Exhibition areas such as The News Gallery on Level 11 are open.
  • The Study Lounge on Level 5 is open with reduced capacity.

National Archives of Singapore

  • Access to archival collections & services is available.
  • Patrons are allowed to sit in the Archives Reading Room and access the collections for onsite reference only.
  • Full access to the National Archives of Singapore’s eResources/database stations is available.

Former Ford Factory

  • Full access to the Gallery@Former Ford Factory is available.
