How much is the full age pension?

The maximum basic rate of the Age Pension in Australia for a single person is $971.50 per fortnight. For couples, the combined maximum basic rate is $1464.60 per fortnight. For couples apart due to ill health, the maximum basic rate is $971.50 per fortnight. For couples, each party gets a maximum basic rate of $732.30 per fortnight.

The Energy Supplement of the Age Pension for a single person is $14.10 per fortnight. For couples,  $21.20 is paid for energy supplement per fortnight. For couples apart due to ill health, $14.10 per fortnight and for couples, each party gets $10.60 per fortnight for energy supplement. Do note that the energy supplement is only available for people who had a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card before 20 September 2016.

  • Couples separated due to illness each receive the Single rate (see above), which combined is $1,602.00 (approximately $41,652 per year) – an increase of $57.20 per fortnight
