Introduction
The Polytechnic Early Admissions Exercise (Poly EAE) is an aptitude-based admissions exercise that allows students to apply for and receive conditional offers for admission to polytechnics prior to receiving their final grades. It allows the polytechnics greater flexibility to select and admit students based on their aptitudes and interests, apart from academic grades, thus allowing a wider range of talents to be recognised.
Poly EAE is open to graduating O-Level students, final-year Nitec and Higher Nitec students from the Institute of Technical Education and Adults (Singapore Citizen or Permanent Residents only) who have two or more years of relevant work experience.
All five polytechnics participate in Poly EAE:
- Nanyang Polytechnic
- Ngee Ann Polytechnic
- Republic Polytechnic
- Singapore Polytechnic
- Temasek Polytechnic

Where relevant, the Polytechnics may also take into account students’ talent and achievements in sports, arts, leadership, entrepreneurship and community service during the Poly EAE selection process.
b. The polytechnics will have the discretion to determine how they assess applicants’ interests, strengths and aptitudes. Polytechnics may also consider participation in relevant co-curricular activities (CCAs), Advanced Elective Modules (AEMs), Applied Learning Programmes (ALP) and Applied Subjects, as well as participation in activities such as work attachments and sustained involvement in projects that are related to the course students are applying for.
Confirmation of Conditional Offers for Polytechnic Admission
c. Poly EAE applicants will be given conditional offers* should they be selected by the polytechnics. While interest in a field of study is important, to better assure that students admitted through Poly EAE are able to cope with the rigours of a polytechnic education, applicants will have to meet the prevailing polytechnic admission criteria to confirm their conditional offers, which are as follows:
